Retouching and Digital Restorations

Moving on from my previous post last week- ok fine, a few weeks ago (settle down, sheesh) outlining the photography services offered here, I would like to highlight the retouching and restoration offerings. The following trailer provides a general idea of what I do. Toward the end of this post is a link to a full length screen capture of a restoration, accompanied by voiceover from me. It’s long; really long. I don’t expect anyone to watch it all the way through, in fact that idea terrifies me, but skipping around will give you an idea what goes into breathing new life into a badly damaged photographic heirloom.

Look, if you’re a photographer, it comes down to this: every workflow has post production. Are you methodical and precise? Do you go to great lengths to get the shot you envision in camera? Do you shoot from the heart and incorporate the tremendous power and creativity afforded to you by contemporary photo editing suites? What if you are a wedding photographer or event photographer amassing large libraries of key moments, whittling your sets down to the finest collections? Having someone reliable, with knowledge and experience, in your pocket to help carry your post production load is an asset. Offloading some (or all) of your editing frees up time to pursue clients, explore your creativity, and shoot more. Less computer time, more photography.

I facilitate high-level retouching of portraits, architecture, products, and then some. Color correction and matching, exposure, contrast, and grading adjustments; I’ll take those, too. Composting? Photorealistic HDR processing? Exposure blending? Yes, please, send them along.

If you’re looking to contract out your post production, consider reaching out and we can discuss your project(s). Here is my contact page. I am located in Saratoga Springs, NY, and accept files any time via digital delivery, mail, and in person by appointment.

Thank you for taking the time to look through my post, as always. See you next week!

P.S. - Here is the full length retouch I mentioned earlier. Yeah, it’s a lot; yeah, it pains me a little to think of me yapping at you for hours on end; but it’s an informative watch worth a skim.
