Happy 2020!

Welcome to the new year.

Happy 2020 everyone!

For those of you familiar with this blog, wow, thanks mom! Just kidding, she doesn’t read this either. The rest of you, this is likely your first time. This is the blog section of LaddCocca, Inc., my photography company. I started this company in 2016 to provide commercial product photography to the businesses and independent producers of Upstate New York. My list of services has since expanded to include image retouching, digital restoration, and some light video work. So now, let’s meet the team!

It’s just me, Kaleb Ladd-Cocca. The business name is simply my last name. Super inspired, right? For now, this company is solely my project and I am very pleased with the flexibility offered by being the only one. Perhaps some day I will add to the team as LaddCocca, inc. grows.

Moving into the new year I would like this to be a space for publishing a variety of content. Readers can expect posts ranging from showcasing the work produce under the LaddCocca, Inc. banner, to behind the scenes images and screen captures, commentary on industry developments, light philosophical contemplation, and the odd instance of personal flavor here and there. Articles are planned to publish weekly, with some spontaneous bonus posts as they arise organically. My list of topics for consideration is already long enough to cover over a year of weekly posting and it continues to grow. Suggestions are always welcome, too.

In addition to this blog, regular content updates will appear in a few other outlets. There may be some redundancy as the goal is to create a cohesive brand across all accounts that I maintain, but each platform will offer unique ways of consuming my content.

Instagram: @laddcocca

Right now, my Instagram account is the most regularly updated outlet. It’s a mix of portfolio showcase, behind the scenes, and some personal stories - a pocket sized version of this blog really.

Twitter: @kladdcocca

Twitter never really caught on with me, personally, but I am going to give it a shot again here in 2020. It always felt like accidentally saying something under my breath a little too loud so others can hear. I will make sure my Twitter will be a great place to go for alerts when I publish new articles. Beyond that it will, at first, likely parrot my IG and be a link repository for content I read on the internet and find interesting. I’ll gladly take any notes and tips for improving my Twitter game.

YouTube: Kaleb Ladd-Cocca

Vimeo: K. Ladd-Cocca

I am going to test out both platforms for hosting my videos for publication. On the one hand, you cannot ignore YouTube’s massive user base and the power it has regarding SEO. On the other hand, Vimeo offers higher video quality and doesn’t come with the weight of YouTube’s politics, which have garnered more than a little contempt in me in recent years. Let’s get one thing straight, I have no desire to “be a YouTuber”, or an “influencer” - I simply need a place to host videos to be published here on the blog, and they should be easily searchable so potential clients can find and utilize my services. Videos on my channel(s) will start out leaning heavily toward the retouching / photo editing side as video is a great medium to show my process. There will also be some live stream experiments - work and recreation related. I do have some other ideas for video content, but the channels will not be regularly updated; best to stick to the blog for video alerts.

Facebook: @LaddCocca

Ahhh Facebook… If you thought my YouTube mini-rant was bad… I do have a business Facebook page, because like it or not, they are a necessity. If you prefer to get updates and content through Facebook, that’s great, and I will be posting content there on a regular basis. Content found on Facebook will be a mix of what I post everywhere, so it may be a great one stop shop for content, despite my personal opinions of the company. Maybe those opinions will make it to this blog sometime. In the meantime, please feel free to like the page.

LinkedIn: kladdcocca

Yes, I have one. I only keep it around as an updated online resume. These blog posts will probably push to LinkedIn but that’s about as far as I plan to take it. My hours of operation, portfolio links, and contact information are current on there as is the resume section, so if you are a potential client, or recruiter, or agency looking for contract work, peruse to your heart’s content.

Alright, that’s enough out of me. I look forward to publishing content here. With time and diligence I hope to reach a few readers aside from myself. Here’s to a productive year!
